♦️ Financial Benefits:

The Friedrich International Student Scholarships for doing bachelors scholarships in Germany as well as scholarships in Germany for postgraduate will cover the Following Expenses Such as:

  • Monthly Stipend of EUR 750 in a Bachelor’s, Diploma, Magister or state examination program
  • Monthly Stipend of EUR 850 in a Master’s course.
  • Costs for health insurance are funded and scholars with a child receive a family allowance of EUR 276.
  • The scholarship does not have to be repaid.

♦️ Eligibility Criteria:

Students have to meet the following criteria to apply for Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Scholarship 2024-25 

- For Undergraduate and Masters:

  • Confirmation of study place or certificate of enrollment at a state or state-recognized German university or technical college for the course for which they want to be funded
  • Foreign applicants must also demonstrate sufficient German language skills
  • First-year students (Germans and foreign students with education) must apply before or at the beginning of the first semester.

- For PhD:

  • Unconditional notification of admission to the doctoral scholarship
  • Foreign applicants must also demonstrate sufficient German language skills.


♦️ Academic Requirements:

  • Outstanding school or academic merit (where required: first graded proofs of academic achievement)
  • Social and political involvement and commitment to the values of social democracy
  • Responsible, motivated, reliable individuals willing to get involved with the Foundation’s network
  • Sufficient knowledge of German, although the courses are held in English

♦️ How does the application process work?

- Four steps lead to funding:

  • Step 1: Simply fill out our online application . We will ask you a few questions about your professional and family background - no further documents are required yet. If you feel unsure or need to talk to someone before applying, you can contact our approximately 480 trusted lecturers. (Note: Please note the deadlines and dates! ) You can download a sample here Download the online information form:
  • Step 2: If you are considered for a scholarship, we will request further documents from you by email: two expert reports from university lecturers and information about your previous education and your social and political commitment . First-year students (not master's students) in their first semester of university submit two reports from former teachers.
    - You have three weeks to upload the documents after we ask you to do so . You have six weeks for the reports, if necessary after consulting us. We advise you to put the documents together while you wait for our response. You can find

    • Basic funding : Information sheet for applications for basic funding (Germans, nationals of higher education and refugees who are not new students or nationals and foreigners after the first semester); reports from university lecturers
    • Doctoral funding : Information sheet for applications for doctoral funding (Germans and nationals of higher education as well as foreigners); report from the supervisor of your dissertation and a further expert report from a second university lecturer
  • Step 3: If you are shortlisted, we would also like to get to know you personally. We will invite you to two interviews : with a trusted lecturer from your department and with a member of our selection committee. You can find tips on preparing for the selection interviews here . The list of all trusted lecturers and selection committee members of the FES Student Support can be found in the FES annual report , which is updated at the beginning of each year and published on the FES homepage.

  • Step 4: The selection committee makes the final decision on admission to one of our programs. The committee meets several times a year.
